Cutting-edge electrodes and cells for large scale hydrogen production

Through our pioneering research we have developed a novel regenerable electrode technology that requires less noble metal and which offers longer operational lifetimes than other competing solutions currently on the market. With this innovation, we aim to enable a new generation of cost-efficient water electrolyzers that can allow for cost-efficient and scalable production of hydrogen that meets the high requirements of industrial end users.

Cost-efficient design

Our electrode design uses significantly less expensive metals than currently available electrodes. Our electrode uses only 0.05% ruthenium, compared to 20-50% of ruthenium or iridium of existing systems, which makes it drastically cheaper to produce.

Dual functions

Our electrode is bifunctional and can thus serve as both anode and cathode in water electrolyzers. This means it is both capable of splitting water and reducing protons to form hydrogen.

Longer lifespan

The electrode is also regenerable, meaning it can be reactivated using only electricity following deactivation. This allows for potentially longer operation lifetimes and avoids the need to replace the anode frequently. This saves significant costs as 20-50% of the total cost of the electrolyzer comes from the anode.

Scalable systems for different applications

Electrolyzer units based on our electrode technology could be serial connected together to allow for the creation of large-scale hydrogen production plants.
